New Object-to-Object and Normal Map Baking Options

baking.jpgDevelopment continues on Blender this latest new feature includes improved baking options.

When I read the following on Blender.org I grinned with happiness:

Tangent space: normals in tangent space coordinates, independent of object transformation and deformation. This is the new default, and the right choice in most cases, since then the normal map can be used for animated objects too.

For more details visit the blender.org site. A discussion on the new baking features can be found at blenderartists.

Builds including the new baking options are available on graphicall.

The artist never blames her/his tools & materials. The
BlenderArtists sound pretty pissy, concerning Blender
    developments. Shut up & deal!

Where is the osx ppc build? If blendernation decided to publicize it, then it must have been included.

WOW! Excellent - this was really missing
Downloaded compiled SVN release, I can't wait enough for the Blender 1.5!!!

Just tried it out with the one linked by ZanQdo. Very cool feature!

I think its interesting that the UV mapping is now controlled in Edit mode. Only things I miss are the game engine and the ability to see texturing in regular Solid mode in UV mode. Since UV mode is combined with Edit mode, you have to go to Texture mode to see textures, and then your lighting is only from lamps.

Guess I'll have to light my scenes better, or wait for the official release!

Tynach: It may not be too late to change that for the next release. Please discuss the issue at http://lists.blender.org/pipermail/bf-funboard/ .

Tynach: in the 3dviewport press View->View Properties->Solid Tex
    Bingo bongo solid texturing.
