I have a LONG history with Blender - I wrote some of the earliest Blender tutorials, worked for Not a Number and helped run the crowdfunding campaign that open sourced Blender (the first one on the internet!). I founded BlenderNation in 2006 and have been editing it every single day since then ;-) I also run the Blender Artists forum and I'm Head of Community at Sketchfab.

I think this is great. We can expect a lot from the Chinese community when they really get going os (and Blender of course).
What is good about Blender for china is that it gives a free alternative to those 10 yuan versions of commercial softwares (most certainly laced by multiple undesirable softwares) one can find on the streets and some shops.
Plus, it is portable. Pirated version are generally for Windows versions. With blender, chinese user can try it on other OSes.
So, yes. Blender is a blessing. :)
There are so many ppl in china that Blender will get new blenderheads for development and art in no time
Great report in china :)
Congraulation.
Great news!
Maybe I'll start contributing some models I'm making for my movie. I'm creating a NEW community license, similar to GPLv3, but better (much better) than CC, and more flexible....
..... time will time. Right now, I'm really busy....
awesome, wish i was there
The quality of the video from Beijing is just amazing. Wouldn't it just be just "so cool" if we could equal that quality for a Blender conference video?
At this rate Blender will be do what the wheel did. Or there abouts. Heres to Blender! :)
Really impressive! I wish I was there!
A question:
Is there any possibility to download the game that appeared in the video report, I mean the 3rd person dungeon blender game?
It is our first time to organize a booth, present a speech for blender in China, fortunately it is very successful. We spread 200 copies of CD in half an hour :)
Very glad you are so interested in this event, thank you all!
BTW, here is the link for that game: http://bbs.blendercn.org/viewtopic.php?t=416. Though the project is suspended now, it might also worth a try.
Just to add on dripstone comment, Beijing LUG also translated the OpenCD into Chinese and distributed 500 copies of it on that day (Windows version) which all included Blender. So that's 700 total CD with Blender on it.
And thank you for the compliments guys.
