‘Doljer’ Playing on UK Filmfestival Filmstock
“A racoon, alone in the woods, to the haunting sounds of ‘The Knife’. ”
This is the description of Adam Procter’s short ‘Doljer’, which has been accepted into the UK filmvestival Filmstock in Luton.
Adam writes:I have recently completed ‘Doljer’ an Open Source & Carbon Netural animated film made predominately in blender and other open source software. It has just been accepted into the UK film festival filmstock for its first public screening.
I am also planning to release the files under a creative commons licence shortly after the screening.

Adam expects to publish Doljer on the web after the festival. When he does we’ll let you know!
The festival’s program is a little confusing, but I *think* Doljer will play on Saturday, November 3rd on 7pm and on Sunday, November 4th on 12.10PM

yeah, bart is right and did you notice he’s using blender?
Combining commercial and non-commercial tools is a good way imho since
many features that are given in comm. packages are not existing in the OS tools yet.
And as he said, he’s more used to illustrator than to inkscape, so why
should he use inkscape for a film he has to create in a certain amount of time?
Many people seem to make OS their religion which is a bad tendency in my eyes since
diversity is a big plus in the creative world!

Some of us–myself included–use Blender because we like it, not because we have an ideological hatred of all proprietary software.
guys… didnt mean to flame, just wanted to remind that using blender doesnt make your whole workflow open source.
to be real, using opensource only wouldnt have produced such a movie, or no movie at all ;)

I would have used inkscape and pencil but my speed in the ‘commericial’ apps was far more usefull. See blog post on my site. I wish I had to a degree but I time was also a factor.

TO be precise his movie is opensource if he opens up his sources. A project is not opensource just because you use opensource ;
BTW Adam how do you know that it is carbon neutral? Didn’t you use a computer that uses electricity ;) Just nit picking…

Hello, I paid to offset the Co2 – I have a certificate and everything (see blog post about it) – if you want usage calcluations I have them ;)
I am pretty sure it could have all been done opensource, when you see it im sure you will agree, I am not the most complicated animator in the world, its the story that I wish to tell…..I suppose I should have not said opensource movie – maybe predominately opensource plus the creator loves open source and the blender community …. but I am trying to also market it a little :D and I am chuffed to be on blendernation too :D
Oh and yes all the files will be out after the festival, on creative commons licence.
