After reading BlenderNation I always visit The Blender Open Material Repository to see if there are any new treats to download. Though I've not yet created an original material worth uploading yet. Hmmmm, I wonder if there's much demand for a Peanut Butter and Herpes procedural material.

A few weeks ago, I wrote a script to help upload materials, which might be of use to some people here. Essentially, if you create a file that has multiple materials in it, the script will automatically render out all of the needed images and create the upload.blend file, although you have to manually enable compression. It's not a very polished script and it may have some bugs in it, but hopefully someone will find it useful. Thread is here:

http://blenderartists.org/forum/showthread.php?t=103633

Anyway, the Material Repository is a great resource, and its great to see that it's growing enough to warrant its own domain.

This article might want to mention that the materials are put under the public domain, which imho is a plus. Definitely looking forward to fooling around with the Brains material, it looks friggin awesome!

Jop, this site has it (all)
Used a lot of materials when i were too lazy or ... not creative enough ;-)
But! No cookies for a "remember login" feature.

Great to support www.blender-materials.org , it's a great place, with a clean & efficient webdesign. I'm sure the best material repository of blender on all the web.
Working with this resource it's win a lot of time & clean job and creativity during texturing.

I added around 4 materials took me less than 1 hour. If all blenderheads do this ; the materials stock will grow easly to 300. Let freely register and post your best settings !
