Fake Apple Ad made with Blender

Fake AdWouldn’t be great if Blender was used to create and ad for Apple? Well, unfortunately it’s a fake ad. Apparently the author of this fake ad is a Blender artist from France. But how do we know it was made with Blender? Well, wait until the end of the video and you will see! ;)

If you want to see the ad, go here. It isn’t the official ad for the new iMacs, but it looks pretty good anyway.

    Well, not as sleek as I had hoped. But it still beats my best work to-date. :D

    His design of iMac is better than one we got from Apple.

    Does anyone have any idea how he did the screen (i mean how it was animated with the operating system showing?)

  8. 8 Jahmaica Edit Link

    Cubedude04, thats the easiest one, you can add video textures, etc. Its like regular textures

    @Cubedude04:
    It looks like a video texture applied to the screen plane material. The video was probably a segment from the Leopard preview videos at Apple.com.

    Pretty good. But the font should be Myriad not Gill Sans. And the type would look better if it was set only on one line instead of the variety of 1, 2 and 3 lines.

    wow, i got posted to Blender Nation :-) Being the guy who made the vid, I'm glad everyone seems to like it.

    Gryphon: the screen-video was built custom in Blender, not Leopard previews from Apple (all the app windows are planes, and the cam moves in 3D space to zoom out). I have the screenvids themselves at http://www.dogsolitude9.com/imac/snarf

    And for the record: when i made this vid, i didn't know a new iMac was coming out. Also, I wasn't trying to redesign the iMac, it's pretty much just a 20" iPhone ;-)

    Cheers

    IMO, a practical multi-touch computer would be able to be angled like a drafting table to prevent arm and neck strain. A multi-touch desktop in current form-factors would be difficult to use. But I am really excited about multi-touch and love to see these types of ideas from people.

    The ad is gorgeous though and speaks very highly of the creator and Blender. The fluidity of the made up interface is really cool. Awesome job.

    No it wouldn't!
    But an ad for GNU/Linux & OSS, oh yeah! :p

    You should check out some of this guy's other work at http://dogsolitude9.com !
    He seems to be incredibly talented. A few years ago, he self published a CD! http://cdbaby.com/cd/tmmf

    And for the record. He's not French. He's an American living in the Pittsburgh area.

    Cheers.

    @Jacob:
    I apologize; as good as I already thought the ad was, I didn't realize you'd put quite so much into what showed on the screen. Three days?! Keep up the good work.
