This is an announcement about the birth of a new French website dedicated to the hosting of Blender challenges. It results from the tight cooperation of three French communities: Linuxgraphic http://www.linuxgraphic.org, Blender-Clan http://www.blenderclan.org and Blender-Doc http://www.blender-doc.fr

- two authors: olivS (author of the French book "La 3D Libre avec Blender") and Mikael (co-author of a training CD-Rom "Formation Blender Basics")
- two editors: Eyrolles (editor of "La 3D Libre avec Blender", http://www.editions-eyrolles.com and FormaCD editor of the CD-Rom, http://www.formacd.com

The website is here: http://www.challenge-blender.fr/ The first challenge has just begun. It ends on Wednesday 4th of July 12:00 PM. The topic is:Summer holidays, 'the great departure'

The two editors are both providing gifts for the winners of the challenge. There will also be a special category for beginners, so that everybody, whatever his level of skills, would have a chance to win.

This challenge is the first French experience at great scale involving cross-communities cooperation and support. A lot of French blender-heads have already signed for the challenge.

The rules, the judges and the prizes can all be viewed on the Challenge-Blender.fr website. The various communities will provide space, help and guidance for all the competitors within their own WIP threads.

The challenge will become a permanent one, perhaps one new topic each two months or each three months, as the editors are willing to continue supporting it with prizes.

Will you enter?

@tazzy: oups yes you are right, I forgot about them! ::shame::
@Tim: could you please edit the news in order to add them?
@ysvry: a lot of people is participating already (the news is a little late ;-) ), and even real beginners are putting great efforts in the Challenge. Of course, it is obvious that the bests will win, but we wanted to consider a special prize for at least one 'true' beginner whose work will be highlighted, even if not up to the standards of a seasoned blender-head.

If they want this to be an international success, they might want to translate it in english… unless it is only for french. Then it's regional newsing :)
