I recently spotted an incoming link from the Chinese BlenderCN.org website. It turned out this site has quite a few translated BlenderNation articles, and I quite enjoyed browsing through it. Doing so re-kindled my idea for setting up translated subsites of BlenderNation.

A few days ago, an interview with an Adobe developer for Flash Video was published in video.onflex.org, which is a blog about Adobe Flex and the future Adobe Apollo. The video shows the future capabilities of Flash video, like HD resolution and hardware acceleration. But what it has to do with Blender? Well, one of the videos used in the demonstration is Elephants Dream!
Seems like the Portuguese community keeps growing.
And with this in mind we see some cool events coming up, such as this one.
Its been long since the first TOSMI session ended and we were so busy that we missed the final article. Now with the deadline for the second TOSMI session getting near we decided to show what happened at the end of the first session.

Do you remember the Cloth Modifier? Well, it’s still in development by Todd Koeckeritz (zaz) and Daniel Genrich (genscher). Since the development is in progress, genscher have created a website to show the progress of the development, publish news about the project and receive donations, to support the development.
It's time again to start thinking about articles, tutorials and images for Issue # 11 of Blenderart Magazine.
In this issue we are focusing on ‘Mechanical’.
We are looking for anything mechanical, bad ass robo, heavy duty machinery and or tanks.
We are looking for tutorials, “making of” articles, and projects of interest that focus on Mechanical modeling.
A very nice tutorial showing how to compose a scene for a Windmill, have been published by a user called blenditall on the Blenderartists forums. The render and modeling looks great! The tutorial explains how the elements for this image were composed from render layers and the nodes setup.
Rome Reborn started ten years ago at UCLA and and now at the University of Virginia is the virtual reality city of Rome. It's basically a snapshot in time, 320 A.D. created by a team of Architects, Archaeologists and Artists working from historic maps and scans of Roman structures still in existence.
Virgilio Vasconcelos who brought us his 3D remake of Chuck Jones One Froggy Evening wrote:

I'm writing about a commercial project that me and two friends of mine have done. It's five short animations, which were showed in an musical event here in Brasil.
The SIGGRAPH 2007 trailer has come out and has some stunning animation and visual effects in it. Included is a short clip from Nil's Thurey's fluid demo.
A new modifier is in development for Blender by Campbell Barton, and it`s called Lathe. The objective of this new tool is to rotate an object to create something like a revolved surface.
Anton Gerdelan is working alongside others to develop a 3D engine that can be used to simulate armoured warfare, with rules similar to those of traditional table-top war-games, but in real-time. And they have been using Blender to create the graphics and models for the engine.

Jahka has started documenting the new particle system at the Blender wiki. Its in the early stages and not everything is covered, but it is a good place to find information on the new system if you are testing one of the development builds.
It's that time of year again: we need an excellent Blender Demo Reel to impress participants at this year's SIGGRAPH conference. This is pretty much the world's most important 3D exhibition, and as reported on blender.org, there will be a Blender presence on the exhibition floor.
