AnimClips Challenge.

NPR rendering with modifiers

npr_camel.jpgCampbell Barton (ideasman42) has come up with a new method of achieving NPR (Non Photo Realistic) renderings with a sketchy look. This method differs from many others in that it is not that much a post or 2D based effect, but an actual alteration of the geometry itself using Blender’s modifiers.

The one thing that really makes me smile about this book is that it will be in full color. And it will cover some of the deep mysteries involving simulations (hair, particles, etc.) in Blender.

German Wiki Book of the Month

wikibooks.pngThe German version of the Blender Documentation is the book of the month at the German Wikibooks site.

mouse-render.pngPuppetry and Blender. A real time capture while manipulating your character in Blender. Keith Lango wrote about on his site last March and you can read the Blender Artist thread.

Here’s an example of a real time 3D puppet on YouTube though I don’t believe it’s done with Blender.

Second LifeDuring a recent return flight I came upon an article in the airline’s on board magazine discussing a virtual world program on the internet called Second Life. Up until now I had never heard of it. Essentially it’s a Virtual Reality World where the users can meet, build products and buildings, buy and sell property, goods and services using “Linden Dollars”
