Yes, the new splash screen looks good. So does Blender 2.44! Yes, I haven't seen it anywhere else, but Blender2.44 is out in the wild now! I did get mine before posting this, so that the server wouldn't be jammed. Now that you know, go and get it!

This is really beautiful. I am glad it won. I don't think any version of Blender previously had a splash screen that looked so nice that I would be more compelled to run it. Congratulations, Andy

Great work Andy. I think it was the best choice.

It's truly an iconic image and character. So much so that maybe it's time to replace Suzanne the Monkey with Andy the Gecko.

I think the Blender Organisation should seriously consider adopting this gecko as an ambassador for Blender if Andy Goralczyk would agree to it. The character would be a great asset to help promote Blender.

Possibly go so far as replacing Blender's default monkey head mesh with a gecko head mesh if Andy Goralczyk would donate it.

Apparently gecko's come in a wide variety of colours. Some can be very bright colours so it would be OK if Blender's gecko was orange to match the Blender logo.

Some geckos can even change their colour to BLEND in with their surroundings! That would be cool for the first ever animated splash screen to have a color changing gecko.

The gecko wouldn't have to be called Andy. Maybe have a competition or vote to decide his name. Or maybe Ton should choose the gecko's name.

Does anyone else think it's a good idea?

Afterall, monkeys are soooo 2006.
