An inconspicuous post in our Event Calendar in February led to a flood of reactions: Karl Kühberger was organising a Blender Workshop in Vienna but it was meant only for teachers. Many Austrian Blender users were interested in attending such a workshop and now Karl is ready with the preparations to do just that!
Not too long ago, the Blender community was all abuzz with Project Orange excitement. In case you weren’t around, here’s a summary of events: a small team of Blender artists and animators got together in Amsterdam for several months. They created the world’s first open movie using mostly Blender and other open source software. Their results of their work? A short film lovingly known as “Elephants Dream,” as well as a number of badly needed Blender improvements.

Tase, from the French community BlenderClan has finished his first comic, and he's about to show it to French editors. He did a great and entertaining work, and very stylish also.
Are you a Blender artist looking for a good project? If so, then take a look at PlaneShift, a free and open source MMORPG under heavy development. In case you're not already familiar with the PlaneShift project, Wikipedia has some useful information:
PlaneShift is a cross-platform fantasy MMORPG in development. Client software is available for Linux, Windows and Mac OS X. It is produced by a developer community, founded by Luca Pancallo, and guided by the Atomic Blue non-profit organization. The engine code is based on the Crystal Space engine and therefore free software. The content is released under another license.

I had a lot of fun reading yesterday's comments on the 'Hidden 3DS Max Display Mode' – thanks, everyone! :) Although it's not widely known, the RT button DOES have a function. I had a chat about it with Ton Roosendaal and he wrote the following article:
The "rt" button in Blender is there for developers to allow debugging or to hide testing. This value is by-definition not saved in (or read from) a Blender file, so you have to set it each time when you start Blender.
