Animation Process – a Case Study
It’s always interesting to see the workflow and ideas of others so, here’s an article on the character animation process.
This is an oldie-but-goodie that still provides good insights.
The author, Michael B. Comet writes:
This article is an attempt to explain and illustrate how I usually go about my animation process, from idea to finished animation.
He goes from the rough sketches all the way through to the final animation:
Each part of how I approach my animation process is described below. At the end of each, is a link or image you can click on to download that particular animation for that step, to see how my progress looked.
He even includes the audio file used in the scene, along with plenty of video clips showing the developing animation!

I didn’t know he made another one. I’ll take a look at it as soon as I can. I’m away for a week. An exchange project between Holland and Belgium. Wish me Fun!

Anyone know if 10secondclub is still up and running? I’d forgotten all about it until this post…I just keep getting a 403 error.

Graham Hall: Last I heard, the 10 second club is down for good, but there is another animation site (the name of which I WOULD forget right now) that announced they were going to start the contests again.
Kernon: Thanks for the link! I’ve read through his “Character Animation: Principles and Practice” before, but I’m not sure I’ve seen this.
