Ted Gocek has developed a Blender to Renderman pipeline. His method is not for the faint of heart as he's using a host of (open source) tools to achieve his goal. Still, if you need Renderman then this may be useful for you.
Juan Pablo Bouza has published BlenRig, a humanoid rig for Blender 2.43 based on bones deformation. The rig, which uses over 680 bones and includes full facial animation, comes with a whopping 26 page manual.

German animation studio Die Versilberte Eitelkeit and Arroba Films S.A. de C.V. have recently finished their 8 minute short movie 'Cosmic Balance', based on Francisco Athié's short novel. Much of the work was done in Blender.

I remember a special epiphany that I had a long time ago, back when I had a lot of time to blend. For days on end I had been pouring all my spare time into an animation, and on one such day I was sitting there trying to get a toy brontosaurus's eyes to pop out of his skull when he was hit by falling letters (I'm not making this up), when suddenly it dawned on me that the whole project was just plain silly, and I just had to laugh at myself for spending all my time so absurdly. If you've ever experienced a moment like this, or you like to have a good laugh at yourself otherwise, you just might get a kick out of the hilarious Blender article that was recently created on Uncyclopedia.org:

Robert Schober (roboshobo) has done another music video using Blender. Nearly a year ago, we wrote about the ”Dear Valentine” music video he did.
This time around it’s “Machines” by the band Kiss Kiss. The music video has a nice little hunter vs. prey themed story, and the very nice rock music goes along well with its stylistic look.

The BURP project aims to provide a publicly accessible distributed renderfarm for Blender. It is built upon the BOINC software (the Berkeley Open Infrastructure for Network Computing) which is now also used for projects such as Seti@Home.

A vulnerability has been discovered in Blender allowing for user-assisted arbitrary code execution. We suspect that this issue affects Blender 2.42 on all platforms.
The Belgian studio Nonius has created the Flash game 'Megamemogame' for the Dutch/Belgian energy company Essent. All the graphics were produced in Blender.
It's always interesting to see the workflow and ideas of others so, here's an article on the character animation process.
With all the talk about new and future modifiers its logical that we should be able to animate them.
