What's up With the Teo & Tea Banner?

26

teotea.jpgMaybe you've seen the Téo & Téa Banner on the homepage of BlenderNation during the last week. This is off-topic, but I'd like to explain why it is there.

Téo & Téa is the latest album of the French synthesizer artist Jean-Michel Jarre. When I was in high-school I was really into his music and to my surprise, he was still making albums. As it turns out, a friend of mine is a big-time Jarre fan and he showed me the website for the new album which features a videoclip with a 3D animation of Téo and Téa.

But that's not all: for the launch of the new album, you can win a meeting with Jarre in person. To win, you have to collect points by placing a banner on your site. Every time someone clicks on the banner, you get points and the contestant with the most points wins the meeting. The runners up get a signed album. I figured it would be cool to try and help him win the contest by placing the banner here. As the website features a well-produced 3D animation I figured I might even get away with it :)

So, there's no money involved here, but if you'd like to help this guy meet his idol it would be grand if you could click the banner every now and then (a click will be counted only once per 24 hours).

A part of the clip will play in the background when you visit the site, but to see to see the entire clip go to 'In English Artist > Videoclip'. (The intro scene contains a view of a nude girl's back).
Thanks!

Bart

PS: Dutch readers may recognise the name. My friend asked Jarre about this on a press conference last week and yes, he know about it ;-). You can see some Dutch Theo and Thea episodes here (contains nudity and you may find this content offending - the Dutch have a weird sense of humour!)

I have a LONG history with Blender - I wrote some of the earliest Blender tutorials, worked for Not a Number and helped run the crowdfunding campaign that open sourced Blender (the first one on the internet!). I founded BlenderNation in 2006 and have been editing it every single day since then ;-) I also run the Blender Artists forum and I'm Head of Community at Sketchfab.

  1. Why not indeed. Spread the love. Just clicked.

I suppose this is vaguely related (although ultimately a shameless plug), but I'm in a band and I did the cover for one of our EPs using Blender. It's not particularly good artwork though (it had to be done very quickly to meet a deadline) so I've not bothered posting it anywhere before. But what the hell. If you're interested it is here:

  2. man that is one messed video. I did not make it past the intro. I am glad I only speak english at this point. Why do you like that stuff again?

  3. I hate being directed to pictures of nude people. Please tell me what is up in those cases. I just want to learn 3D.

    Thanks

  4. Bart: I was refering to the Dutch Theo and Thea episodes here. they super thier faces on naked people.

Thanks for the response. I try not to look at that type of stuff if I can help it. Just surprised.

  5. This is ridiculous.

When I sent a request to post about the release of Crystal Space 1.0, I was told it was not newsworthy in relation to blender, but this article is so far off topic, it's an insult.

  6. This is not as off-topic as you see it, esben.
Bart has put enough work into blendernation, why not read his text and do one click?

On the other side you're totally right:
WHY IS THERE NO ARTICLE ABOUT CRYSTAL SPACE, EH?
I'd like to see MORE of such engine related stuff, also OGRE is interesting... so please accept such kind of news in the future, thx.

  7. Clicked twice : I just wish that I had thought of turning the sound down prior. I think that that guy could make me like Céline Dion.

    LOL

  8. Hey, I Remember getting 'Oxygene' when I was a boy! :) And I remember seeing his laser show at London Docklands from a distance. Cool Guy.

  9. Hi Bart,

thanks for the link - I'm 41 now and have been a big Jarre fan in my teen years.

I almost forgot him, but you just brought Jarre back to me - thanks for that again - today the CD arrived, Jean Michel is still creating great music... it is more "main stream" and some of the tracks are even dance floor compatible, but I really like it.

    Clicked the link of course...

@esben stien: A little off topic here won't do any harm, life is not black and white, it is black and white and all shades of grey and red, green, blue yellow, orange... just open your eyes, take a look around and you will see :-))))
