Ton has published the development roadmap for Blender 2.44 and 2.50. 2.44 will be worked on during April. It will be a release with mainly bugfixes and minor improvements. This will be the last release before 2.50 which will consist of the long expected UI overhaul and other feature upgrades. The tentative releasedate for 2.50 is october/november 2007. Dave Jarvis has released version 1.0.0 of his Audio Analysis script. This script will read a .wav file and map the amplitude to several types of IPO curves. It's a great tool for synchronising certain effects (like thunder and lighting, explosions etc) in your animation with the audio.

One week ago a thread on BlenderArtists.org got me wondering how everyone was using the Mancandy rig. There were some very funny examples, not all of them very pleasant for poor little Mancandy. Little did he know that things were about to become a lot worse!

Using (dynamic) text in the Blender game engine requires a few steps: defining a texture with bitmaps of the font which you want to use, mapping this to a plane, and setting the correct texture type. It's not very complicated, but it's one of those things someone needs to explain to you, I guess. This short tutorial by Andrew West takes you through it step by step.
