Free Character Rig: Otto

13

otto_th.jpgThey just keep popping up everywhere. Another new character rig is now available. Otto is the name of the rig and its based on the techniques demonstrated at the Blender conference.

One of the most impressive stretch rigs out there. Includes facial controls. Definitely worth taking a good detailed look at to see how everything is done. Otto has also been added to the list of character rigs we provided recently, which you can find here.

Yeah, and we don't mind at all :). However it would be very cool to see a more realistic human rig some day.

  2. Hi, Joeri.

I´m sorry for that. This is now corrected... =D

I´ve put the page online, but I was giving more attention to the blenderartists thread. =/

Thanks for posting Otto here! If anyone have doubts or suggestions, just tell me.

    Cheers!

In short, you are free to change and redistribute Otto as you like. I just ask you that you let the credits of the original to me (Virgilio Vasconcelos) and a link to this page."

Well i find it difficult to make really good joint deformation on realistic human limbs. All the models up till now seem to be rather stick figure-like, don't get me wrong i really appreciate all the work put into them. But there aren't any really realistic head and body rigs out there.

  5. mpl: my sentiments as well: almost all animateable characters/rigs have thin limbs to work around the problem of pinching. I too would like to see a nice, normal limbed character.

But nonetheless the rigs themselves are really worth it, thanks to the contributions!
