Looking back on 2006

Plumiferos

Plumiferos is an Argentinian project that aims to produce a feature-length movie using Blender. They have been quietly working with their team of over 30 professionals and from what we've seen so far, this is going to be the most complex and beautiful Blender production so far.

They are supported by the Blender Foundation: Ton is helping them by fixing bugs and implementing new features on-line, and the Foundation sponsored them by flying Bassam and Andy to Buenos Aires for six weeks to let them share their experiences with Elephants Dream.

Blender 2.42

Blender 2.42 introduced a new render pipeline, node editors for materials and compositing, an improved sequence editor, vastly improved character animation tools and much, much more. Without a doubt it was the most influential and ground breaking Blender release ever (until 2.43? :-)

BlenderArt Magazine

I am very impressed by what the BlenderArt Magazine crew is doing: every two months they publish a very professionally produced Blender e-zine. Each issue dives into a specific topic which they cover thoroughly, with tutorials, interviews and artwork. Managing Editor Sandra Gilbert does an excellent job at managing the crew of now more than 30 contributors (I know how hard it is to keep everyone interested ;-) - I hope we'll see many more BlenderArt issues!

Who did the music for the Siggraph 2006 Blender Demo Reel. If I could find out I would ask permission to use the music in a movie of mine. Anyway, I appreciate everything blender and the good blender folk have done. Blender his helping to make my dreams come true. Thanks you everyone and thank you blender nation for keeping me in the loop. face loop that is.

    Happy New Year !

My good plans for 2007 are:
More working with Blender.(2006 was a lazy year for me and Blender kept on develloping; and i was standing still !)
Stop making meself crazy by wanting to make moving animation, but concentrate on the design and make nice rendering of one frame.

Best wishes to the blender community; respect to all the developers!

    @Cubedude04
Februari is a good time to start with Blender!
I looked back to my first Gingerbreadman (gus) in my old blend files.
And it was from 9 march 2005; So it must be around februari that I had really started with Blender.

    i second that last statement.
it's been 3 years since i first downloaded blender and I finally know how 2 use it now!!

i've been thinking, maybe Blender could establish a new world order. . .

    Hmm… Blender World Domination…

I say Ton should take over the world and force all the 3DS Max users to use Blender.
