Blender entry wins first prize in OpenOffice.org clipart contest

Trevor has won the first prize ($750!) in the OpenOffice.org 'Clipart and Draw' contest with a clipart library of over 130 images, all made in Blender.
Trevor writes:
OpenOffice.org was holding a clipart design contest in which I was the lucky recipient of the top placing. The reason I am notifying you is that all the images were modeled and rendered in Blender3D.
The clipart 'gallery' seems a little unorganized to me at the moment but here are the links to the winners list and my winning clipart collection:
It would be great if you published this which would in-turn raise awareness of future OOo competitions. I plan to in the future post all the models on a website for free download and use.
His collection is a nicely designed, consistent set of cartoon-rendered images and I'm sure many people can put them to good use. While the images aren't the usual slick, uber-3d graphics, I'm impressed both with the quality and the quantity of his work!

Well done! Its dam silly but I would never think of Blender for clip Art, I suppose I have too many years of 'Word' clip art in my head! Bring on the icons!!

It's a very nice collection. I have almost never played with cartoon shading… This work shows me that I should give it an eye. The result is amazing.
Isn't one of the core features of cliparts the fact that they're scalable and thus can be used in any size?

Clipart are premade illustratrions or graphic elements that you can use free of charge and royalty.
Although it's more common to see scalable artwork as cliparts (corel, MS office), it isn't a condition.
Gez: Alright. Well, no doubt the icons in this package are very nice. However, they're hardly suitable for anything except website graphics - as they're far too small to be of any use for print.

Perhaps one day, Trevor might concede to release his clipart library in a .blend file, then you can render them any size you want.
In the meantime, that's a fantastic job and a well deserved prize.
Hmm, hasn't open office got some brief 3d-tools? Maybe it would be an idea, to make it possible for it to import .obj (or .blend!?), then these wonderful cliparts could be rotated/scaled! Well, we don't know what OOo looks like in some years :)
By then, it would have to integrate Blender into its core or as a plugin so that it will be able to render those files the way Blender does (e.g. with cartoon shading, etc.). You see, with free software like Blender3D and OpenOffice.org this type of daydreaming is actually possible. ;P Hoooray for freedom!
