Inkscape has much better/easier/superior to use bezier curve tools than blender. It's also quite quite easy to export the .SVG logos from Inkscape to blender for conversion to 3D.

For instance, this was done in Inkscape.

And the brought into blender using a glass setup I found on the forums.

It was a complete surprise for me to wake up today and find myself on BlenderNation.
You can not know just how thrilled, surprised and honored to be mentioned here.
I mean, I never thought I'd actually be noticed by anyone. And all this time I've been
making videos thinking, "I've gotta do better next time" What comes out is always
miles shorter than what I had in mind. But this is all very encouraging for me to keep going.
Thank you all.

Excellent video! The brief shots of him thinking and working really add to it.
This was an excellent example something I need to remember: don't waste hours in blender making it perfect when you could just touch it up in Gimp.

That is inspirational, I like the idea of the amount of changing that can be easily made. From one item you can have a 2d any colour logo, a 3d textured render, or even an animation, all with consistency as its made from the same item! This has really set me thinking... Thanks!

Very good. I wish I was as articulate.
I had never really thought of using Blender 3d to make 2d.
The potential of Blender never ceases to amaze me.
Heres to the people that contribute their time and brainpower to make and share things for us to create with :o)
