The Blender.org gallery hadn't been updated since April 2006. It used to be my task but my work for BlenderNation simply took too much of my time. The crowd was getting restless…
Earlier this week I had dinner with Ton Roosendaal in Amsterdam in Jamie Oliver's restaurant 'Fifteen'. As always, it was a lot of fun and we discussed all kinds of Blender topics all night.
A great application that doesn't always get the lime-light is Terragen. It's slow in development but it's new features that will be coming in Terragen 2 are really impressive.

Interested in seeing how the Blender Game Engine (GE) works? Well, BlenderNation has compiled a small list of available resources that feature various GE demos and tutorials just for those trying to learn more about using Blender for game and architectual development.
We received many reports on the appearance of the Skategirl demo on a show called 'Modern Marvels' of the History Channel. As it happens, at Siggraph we ran into Randall Rickert, a Blender user who currently animates for the History Channel. As a former NaN employee he was one of the creators of Skategirl, so I figured I'd go ahead and ask him if he knew anything about this.
BlenderNation recently came across a really interesting tool which takes 2D freehand drawings and converts them into 3D models which can be loaded into other programs such as Blender. You can literally create just about anything you can draw on the screen!

Cicero Moraes is a freelance modeler/animator from Mato Grosso, Brasil and he has recently created a series of TV commercials for a local petroleum company. One commercial, the Desemrenho, stands out to me because of how it showcases Blender fluids.

Tony Mullen is finishing his upcoming book 'Introducing Character Animation with Blender'. From what I can see so far it is going to be a fantastic addition to the Blender library. I also think that it is a sign of the maturity of Blender that people are now writing books about specific Blender aspects (as opposed to books that try to cover Blender in its entirety).

Blender has long been a loose confederation of artists, programmers, and hobbyists. And with Blender becoming more and more powerful, people, schools, and studios are beginning to have the need and desire to use Blender in their organizations. However, there is often a great hurdle that must be overcome with Blender: Learning how to use it.
