Siggraph Day Three - Final Preparations

Monday has been the best day so far! We worked from 9am to 11pm to finish the booth, I finally got to meet my BlenderNation partners Eugene and David, and we had an excellent pizza dinner at the floor of our booth ;-)
Much time was spent getting the computers up and running (the wrong screens were delivered - televisions instead of the ordered 1900×1200 monitors) and solving some hardware and network issues.
Also, Eugene and Colin spent the better part of the afternoon doing their best to re-fix the Emo and Proog banner and to remove the wrinkles from it.
Finally, we ran through a series of practice sessions for the 'big-screen' demonstrations.

I haven't seen this video yet, but I'm confused with the times. I'm in EST (Same as Boston) and right now, it is only 3:30 PM. But you finished at 11 PM. Does 2.42a have a time machine no one told me about? ;) Or am I just seriously confused…
Anyway, correct times or not, I appreciate the work you’re putting into these videos. Can't wait to see the ones during the actual show.

Ah, okay. Partly my fault - here I was thinking it was still Monday. That, and I wasn't entirely sure when the conference started. Well, that's what happens when your a student on summer break.

That never finished game with the little Anime style girl looks really nice!
Well for next time, build a frame for the backdrops there. Grommets(Not Rivets) will should definitly help, but will only do so much if the frame you are attaching it to is only so sturdy. It would be better for that to have your drop made with areas to build a frame into it to stretch it as much as possible. Also make sure you are tying the top and bottom corners as wide as possible, start in the middle and work your way out, constantly pulling out along the way. Wont be perfect in this case, but will help.
Have Fun there no matter what, doesnt look like a bad booth at all though. Where did yall dig up the lighting instruments out of curiosity?

With a big banner like that probably it is almost impossible to get it wrinkle free.
I guess it is made of PVC? maybe you could use hairdrier to stretch it locally…Bassam maybe has one…I don't think you need bother to ask Ton :o)

Yes, we know they are called grommets… not sure why rivets started being used :)
Surprisingly, the banner seemed to stretch out over night thanks to the horizontal stretching we did so it looked really nice today.
@bart: You should fix the image in the post, it has some weird characters on the name and doesn't load properly :) .

Good to hear from you. I'm missing the coolness of Amsterdam. It's over 100 degrees Fahrenheit today!
Getting the booth ready was a lot of work (and fun!). We had a good crew (Bob Holcolm, Mark Puttnam, Dave Millet). They all put in a lot of hours.
It was pretty hot here last week.
I also saw Daniel and randall on the vid. Greetings!

Glad to hear it stretched some, heres to hoping the show goes well. Stretching overnight is a common practice for similar items in theater if it is going to be hung like that and not on a frame.
