The Retina Software contest for a realistic cityscape made in Blender is accepting submissions up to midnight July 30th, 2006. The prize is 500 big ones ($500 USD)… and maybe more. It’s important to note that the model, while being rendered in 3D, will only be used as viewing from a top-down perspective, so keep that in mind when designing. More details on the contest can be found on the company’s site.

Christian Krupa of Shroomstudio has posted about a promotional video for a band called Fightstar that he (and others) made using Blender (and I imagine other tools).
After the release of the ClubSilo demo, we were all reminded that the Blender game engine still can rock the casbah. Lucky for us, the talented people that develop and/or use the game engine are nice enough to share tips and tricks with those who are willing to look at them.
