It's a nice look at the past 33 years and seeing how far we've come. You might also be interested in the latest "first" that the entry describes.

winosi.pngChris has updated Sunflow!
From the site:
I've just uploaded a new version which fixes a few minor bugs and adds include search path support as well as a couple new command line options for convenience. I have made similar small fixes to the Blender exporter, relating to camera aspect ratio and finding the right objects from the scene data (Blender keeps deleted objects around for undo purposes). Get the latest from the download section!
blender_library_10k.jpgMariano is making leaps and bounds with the script:
  • New database system allowing to store more than 10,000 items.
  • Categories and sub categories in each library.
  • Content can be rearraged with file managers. You can add categories, delete or move stuff or whatever you like. Just note every item needs 3 files (the .blend, the jpg preview image and the .txt with data)
  • Load at 3D Cursor option (only works with single datablock objects for now)
  • Item 's description is displayed below current item's name.
  • Can import single items from any library now. Also warning if the item you are importing already exists in the library.
  • Option to import a full folder of Tar compressed items at once.
  • In INFO menu, click on item's name or description to rename.
  • Can choose a license text to be added to the item. The user is warned about the existance of the license text when loading items with license.
bild_00k.pngYou might recall our post about distributed rendering using POV-Ray and MegaPOV from Theo Gottwald. He's updated his program to version 4.6 Distri (release candidate) 2. Here is what has been going on since the last version:
- Again new, more easy Installation.
- more new Icons
- Package cleaned up
- RenderAgent now suggest a folder, and remembers the folder properly.
- New Minimizer-Sollution, for working on the PC while it is used for Rendering. Minimizes, Hides and changes CPU-Priority.
- Should work with any POV 3.5/3.6 and Mega POV 1.21
- POV-Ray 3.7 does not work with this version, it seems to produce only TGA-Files, we need BMP's to merge them.
- Internal Optimizations, RenderAgent now takes Jobs faster.
- Installs Icons in Startmenü, Quickstart and on Desktop.
- Automatically uses POV_Settings.exe afer Installation.
- Silent-Setup-Robot included – will make the complete installation without user interaction.
This is just a pre-Release, which replaces the version 4.4.
Final 4.6 Distri 3 release in next days after some Tests.
Looking forward to 4.6 rc 3!
