Blender.org Gallery Updated: March 2006

no_stress.jpgThe March edition of the blender.org gallery is online. Lots of beautiful images, and a few crazy, funny and even scary ones.

As an interesting sidenote: the first Kerkythea renders have also appeared; I'm still thinking about the best way to incorporate these into the gallery as other renderers are also starting to show up and we may want to accomodate those as well.

I also got some remarks about the use of Javascript to open the images in a popup window. The reason we have these is that this script comes standard with Typo3, the Content Management System that we use on blender.org. As we're already slowly starting to think about a redesign there, I won't tinker with the existing script and instead put my energy in the new&improved version.

So, go on over to blender.org and check out the art. Let us know what your favorite image is!

    Wow. Wow.

I am amazed. They are all fantastic.

    Best Scene: "Wise Men"
Best Material Work: "Food Is Coming…"
    Most Poignant: "Loss"
Most Disturbing: "Killer Coelhinho of Death de Massinha"
Just Plain Awesome: "Prinz Serg's Toy"
Best Short Film Idea: "No stress"

Also, a car render is a good standard to show how well a 3D program performs (since every program has numerous car posts which can be compared). "Punto" and "landrover beach scene" definitely "bring it."

The link on the frontpage is not updated?

    Many really great images there!

@sigurdur: it's always the same link, but as the pages on blender.org are static HTML you may need to hit 'refresh' in your browser to load the new content.

    Amazing work!
I think this is one of the better galleries I've seen at Blender.org
The general level is very high. I love every image.

It's nice to see some friends' work too: Sergi's Drumset (I think he rendered it with yafray, you should ask him), the Blenderfor's "Interforos Contest" winner, and the great "Handscape" from Colin.

As I've said, all pics are superb. They show Blender is mature enought to be in highend production environments.

I'll just add that Colin Levy's skill (Handscape) both impresses and enrages me (given his age). But given that he's a fellow Marylander, I will try to put my envy aside.

etr9j: We all hate Colin. :-D
He has that ugly habit of reminding us how sadly we lost our time when we were younger.

I wish I could be like him when I become… younger? Buaaaa!!!
